Slane is one of the few dragons you can encounter in Divinity: Original Sin 2. He asks you for help because his has source has been stolen by Radeka the Witch. I went to Radeka, grabbed her Purging Wand and then... didn't give it to Slane. He didn't like that and attacked me. Unfortunatey to get the best results for the player you have to fight him. You get an achievement, more XP and better loot (a really good 1-handed weapon!) if you defeat him.
The fight is tough, especially when he uses his whirlwind attack. So you better spread out.
